What are Microsoft Power Pages?

Microsoft Power Pages is a low-code platform for creating, hosting, and managing external-facing websites that work across devices and browsers. It is a standalone product that is part of the Power Platform suite and built upon the functionality of Power Pages Portals. It allows users to sign in with different identities, such as LinkedIn or Facebook accounts, or browse content anonymously. It is a great solution for businesses that want to build a portal for their existing or potential customers to be able to browse company information, complete forms or gain accesses to powerful reporting data.


Is Power Pages free?

No, unfortunately Power Pages is not free. You need to have a license to use it and as with all things Microsoft there are a variety of different ways to subscribe to the product. Do contact us if you need help with choosing the best option.


What are the typical use cases for Power Pages?

Classic use cases are:

How long does it take to build a Power Pages Portal?

The time it takes to build a Power Pages portal depends on the complexity of the portal and the amount of customization required. Very basic sites can be created in a number of hours, however, typically a project with a few customer forms would take between 3-5 days.


Do I need to be a programmer to build a Power Pages Portal?

No - Microsoft call Power Pages development "no-code / low co-code". So, while do you do need to understand to a degree the syntax the system uses it is certainly not like traditional programming. AI is also built into the system which can also help with certain configurations.

What are the differences between PowerApps Apps and Power Pages?

PowerApps are applications that are generally built to manage and automate a business process, such as Health & Safety. Holiday Requests etc… The primary user of a PowerApps is a “internal” employ to the business.


Power Pages on the other hand if focused on your “external” customers and partners. There are no “apps” as such with Power Pages is built around a website, typically it would be used to provide forms to external users which can submitted into your business and then managed internally. Power Pages allows business to created solutions where partners / customers can submit queries and get answers back. Integration with Power Virtual Agents allows chat bots to be integrated into the solution.
